Confidence & social skills
Walking out to bat, taking a catch in front of teammates or bowling your first over are moments that build real confidence. Being part of a team gives young people a place where they belong.
What it means at Malmö Kings
Many of our young players came to Malmö Kings not knowing anyone. Within weeks they had a group of friends and a sense of belonging. We pay special attention to shy children and newcomers and make sure everyone gets time with the bat and the ball.
Confidence & social skills at Malmö Kings
Small wins that build big confidence
Confidence grows from experiences of success, and in cricket those moments come often: a first clean catch, a first run, a first wicket.
Coaches make sure every child gets time to bat, bowl and field in every session, so nobody is left on the sidelines and everyone has something to be proud of.
A place to make friends
Training brings together children from different schools, neighbourhoods and backgrounds who might never meet otherwise. Shared goals, team talks and celebrations create a natural way to connect.
For children who are new in Malmö, a team can be the quickest route to new friendships.
Learning to speak up
Cricket needs communication. Batters call “yes”, “no” or “wait” when running, fielders call for catches and bowlers discuss plans with the captain.
Practising this in a friendly environment helps children find their voice, in Swedish, English or both.
Common questions
My child is shy. Will they fit in?
Yes. We pay special attention to newcomers and quieter children, pair them with friendly teammates and let them build up at their own pace. Many shy children grow in confidence within a few weeks.
Can my child join without knowing anyone at the club?
Yes. Most new players start without knowing anyone. Coaches introduce them to the group at the first session.
Are there social activities besides training?
Yes. Along with training and matches, the club organises activities such as tournaments and family days during the season, where players, parents and supporters meet.
