Health & focus

Good habits around the game

Cricket combines short sprints and throws with long spells of concentration, so it trains body and mind at the same time.

We teach good habits around the game: a proper warm-up, water, a meal before training, enough sleep and rest days. Coaches praise effort and attitude, not only results.

  • Active outdoor sessions every week
  • Focus and concentration in every over
  • Positive coaching and encouragement
  • Respect for rest, recovery and healthy habits
Integration

A familiar sport in a new country

Malmö is a city of many languages and cultures. Cricket is loved across South Asia, Afghanistan, Australia, the UK, the Caribbean and Africa, and for many newcomer families it is a familiar sport in a new country. For Swedish-born children it is an exciting new game to discover.

Young people from different backgrounds become teammates, practise Swedish and English together and learn how a Swedish non-profit club works: shared responsibility, democracy, volunteering and fair play.

  • Teamwork, discipline and listening
  • Match awareness and game decisions
  • Respect for coaches, teammates, opponents and rules
For parents

Practical information for parents

What to bring

Comfortable sports clothes, trainers with good grip and a water bottle. In summer, sun protection and a cap are a good idea.

Club equipment, including bats, pads, gloves and helmets, can be borrowed, so there is nothing you need to buy first.

How to register

Fill in the membership form and pay the yearly fee to Bankgiro 5155-0267 with your child’s full name as the reference: 95 SEK up to 7 years old and 500 SEK for ages 7 to 16.

A club coordinator then confirms the registration and the first training session.

When and where

From the last week of March to September we train outdoors in Malmö, at Lindängen and Limhamnsfältet. From October to March we train indoors at DR Cricket Academy.

Contact us for the current training days and times for your child’s age.

How parents can help

Parents are always welcome to watch training. You can also help on match days and at events, drive players to away matches or support the club with administration.

No cricket experience is needed, and it is a great way to get to know other families.

Youth membership

Youth membership is 95 SEK (up to 7 years) or 500 SEK (7 to 16 years) per year.

Parents ask

Youth cricket questions

From what age can my child start?

Children of all ages are welcome. Our youngest group is for children up to 7 years old, and we group players by age and level so everyone learns at the right pace.

Does my child need experience or their own equipment?

No. Beginners are welcome and the club lends bats, pads, gloves and helmets for the first sessions. Your child only needs sports clothes, trainers and a water bottle.

Is cricket safe for children?

Yes. Sessions are led and supervised by adult coaches, every session starts with a warm-up, and young players wear a helmet, pads and gloves when batting with a hard ball.

Who coaches the children?

Training is led by our coaches under Head Coach Shahid Aslam, and our Youth Lead Hussain Cheema coordinates the youth programme, the training schedule and safeguarding.

Can young players play matches?

Yes, as they develop. Talented juniors already play in our senior T20 team: in 2026 one of our 15-year-old bowlers took 13 wickets in the league, including a hat-trick.

Can parents watch or help?

Yes. Parents are welcome at training and matches, and many help out as volunteers on match days and at club events.

What does it cost?

The yearly membership fee is 95 SEK for children up to 7 years old and 500 SEK for ages 7 to 16.

Is cricket for girls too?

Yes. Girls are welcome at every session.

Which language are sessions in?

Our coaches use Swedish and English, and many players speak other languages too.
